Sixth Round of TPP Negotiations Moves Forward

The nine Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) partners (Australia, Brunei, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam, and the United States) completed the sixth round of negotiations in Singapore on March 26 - April 3. Reports suggest that the talks went well, and progress was made towards reaching the goal of a substantially concluded agreement by the November Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting in Hawaii. Notably, the United States tabled legal text on regulatory coherence, a nontraditional element of an FTA agreement which the Chamber has been a strong advocate in favor of including. The next round of negotiations is scheduled to be held in Vietnam June 20-24.
